Another win, another three points. Conte’s Juventus machine just keeps rolling on and on at present, gathering more momentum as the weeks go by. Still unbeaten since he took over the club, Juve are now 20 Serie A games unbeaten since the start of the campaign, which if I’m not mistaken is a club record. The game against Udinese was always going to be a tough one against a very good side, Conte once again went like for like, persisting with the 3 at the back (3-5-2) which we have seen against Roma and also against Napoli and Udinese (away). Tactically it seemed spot on, as it was us who looked like the team who’d been playing the system for years and not Udinese.
Matri was an outstanding performer for the Bianconeri. In the last few months, even the most passionate fan of Matri would admit that he’s been struggling, struggling for confidence, struggling for goals and just looking downright frustrated whilst out on the pitch. This game however was a return to form for the Juventus prima punta, as he finished the game with 2 goals, which he more than deserved for his contribution to the side.
It wasn’t just his goals which stood out, his hold up play was always positive and whilst on a few occasions his touch was a little slack which resulted in the ball getting away from him, the majority of the time this wasn’t an issue, as he expertly laid the ball off into his teammates path and gave us an out ball when we needed someone to give us some time to push up and take the pressure off the backline in the occasions where Udinese were pushing forward.
