Ok, this week, we are not quite as awesome as were appeared to be the previous week. But the good news is that we’re still unbeaten and that’s important as we haven’t lost all the momentum we have been starting to build over the past month or so.
The team who stand in our way this week are Catania and whilst we beat them 2-0 at home in January, they do have a habit of pinching the odd point or two off us, here and there. However that hasn’t been the case this season, where we’ve run out victors in both the meetings between the two sides, 3-1 away at Catania and a 2-0 win at home in the Coppa Italia as I mentioned above. It’s also worth noting that Catania come into this game off the back of a 4-1 drubbing in front of their own fans at the hands of Lazio and haven’t won an away league game in Serie A since February last year. Meaning there is no real excuse for us not to win this game and I have faith that the team can deliver the result in order to put the pressure back on those above.
In other news, the club have secured tthe signings of the very highly rated Brazilian brothers, Gabriel and Guilherme Appelt and the duo will arrive in the summer. Conveniently they possess EU passports which makes the deal more more viable for the club and much less complicated to complete than if they didn’t. Gabriel is a defensive minded Midfield player who apparently came to prominance in a recent game where he marked out the Ronaldinho in a game between Resende and Flamengo. Whilst Guilherme is an Attacking Midfielder, however I don’t know any more than that about him. There is official confirmation of the signings on the Resende website, here.
To see some of what Gabriel is about, view the video below, which was brought to my attention by Vincenzo (2D Genius) on Twitter:
The kid looks to be a decent prospect and was also being tracked by other top European clubs such as Inter and Liverpool, so it represents as a decent coup for the club by Paratici and Marotta. Good Stuff.
Nothing more to say, just looking forward to the Catania game and hopefully a performance of more invention than we saw last week!
